Albany is planning to gut a critical home care program and jeopardize the healthcare of New York residents whose very life is dependent on it. This decision threatens to hand control of our home care system to an out-of-state company, a forty-billion dollar deal without any statewide oversight that will bankrupt hundreds of small businesses, eliminate home care jobs, and force thousands of elderly and disabled New Yorkers into nursing homes.
Passing A.1926A./S.1683A would bring much-needed transparency and integrity to New York’s Medicaid LTC system and inspire new approaches to increase access to HCBS for all consumers who desire to live and receive care at home. ILCs compete in the same labor market and have the same difficulty in recruiting and retaining staff. We need you to call the Governor and leaders in the Legislature and ask them to include ILCs in the human services COLA.
