Via Olmstead Plan NY:
New York State is working on a new Olmstead Plan — a plan that helps make sure people with disabilities can live in the community they choose, with the support they need.
To help shape this work, we’re hosting nine virtual listening sessions, and we want to hear from you.
Topic-Based Listening Sessions
Each topic-based session will be three hours long, and will focus on a key area of life for people with disabilities. There will be three topic-based sessions in total:
- Tuesday, July 22, 2025 from Noon – 3 pm
o Session 1: Access to Services and Supports
- Getting the help you need – like housing, healthcare, or transportation – when you need it.
- Tuesday, July 29, 2025 from 10:30 am – 1:30 pm
o Session 2: Rights Protection and System Accountability
- Knowing your rights are protected, being treated with dignity, and having systems that work and respond fairly.
- Thursday, July 31, 2025 from 11 am – 2 pm
o Session 3: Community Integration and Choice
- Living where and with whom you want, making your own choices, and being part of your community.
Region-Based Listening Sessions (listening session regions are listed on the sign up form)
Each region-based session will be one hour long, and will focus on the needs and experiences of people with disabilities in a specific region of New York State. There will be six region-based sessions in total:
