Call to Action: Save the CDPAP!

Via CDANYS

Our way of life, our freedoms, and our rights are under threat!

On October 1st, Governor Hochul and her Department of Health is supposed to reveal who “won” the $40 billion smoke and mirrors contract to be the sole FI for New York, beginning the process of closing 600 local fiscal intermediaries.
This will put over 10,000 employees of these FIs out of work and placing the future of consumers and their personal assistants in jeopardy. In Pennsylvania, when they went from 36 FIs to 1, their program fell from 20,000 consumers to 8,000 today. Imagine what will happen with NY’s 250,000!!!

The Governor plans to replace our FIs with one out-of-state corporation that will monopolize the CDPA program, making it harder for consumers to retain their current personal assistants and nearly impossible to recruit new ones. This is our moment to rise up and make sure our voices are heard!

All summer, we have been fighting together to preserve our independence and freedom to choose. With only one week left before the decision is supposed to be launched, we need you more than ever!!

Rise up—we must protect what matters. Starting today – Monday, September 23, 2024, we’ll launch a powerful campaign to flood officials with calls, making sure they hear our concerns loud and clear. Every day this week, we’ll target key offices. This is the week we make our voices impossible to ignore!
Together, let’s make sure New York hears us—our future depends on it!

Monday, September 23, 2024, call Assemblymember Paulin, Sen. Rivera:  Tell them, “I am calling you as Chair of the Health Committee. Please demand Governor Hochul and DOH pause the move to a single FI and instead work with you and advocates to come up with a solution that protects CDPAP today, and into the future.”
